Must be the millennial thing to always praise moneyball when their strategy never wins anything.
Zepp is the most ill-informed poster on the board.
Not only are the Yankees knee-deep into analytics, the Astros front office has been described as "analytics on steroids." The Astros won the W.S. last year and have a real chance to win one again if they can get past the Red Sox, another organization that is heavy into the analytics.
BTW, the A's won 97 games with the lowest payroll in baseball. That is some accomplishment.

analytics is a tool. it does not win or lose. it's like saying a wrench loses. it's silly.
the challenge with analytics is that they don't know what to measure more often than not. they focus on the wrong stuff. it is also deficient in that they do not measure the level of competition. but the tools are the tools. they are there for you to work with to help determine certain things about a player. e.g if you want to know if a certain RB fumbles a lot, you can check his fumble stats. Analyzing those stats can help you determine if he is or is not a fumbler. That is all.

uther99: The Oline is just too bad to compete. If you max protect, how many WRs go out, 2? That's 2 WRs against 7 defenders, good luck.

GordonG: Homer, I hope you get good news this week. Like Troy, I also beat cancer. I was fortunate that it was caught very early. So early that it could have easily been diagnosed as benign.
