Foles has the tools to obviously win. Ups and downs but has proven he can do what it takes to win a superbowl. We just saw a top draft pick in Goff who had a great season totally suck in the superbowl and not make plays. Experience ? yes. Skill? dont think so
So on the Foles subject, I think he is a good QB. How good? Good enough to be a #1 QB and pay him that way. For maybe he has another 4-5 years? Nobody knows but he hasn't taken all the snaps and beating other QBs have. he is a bit soft compared to our Iron Man
It really comes down to any team making a smart business decision. Do you draft a QB and have the unknown and can put some other pieces around that player due to $$$. Do you have the extra cap space and coin to do both?
Giants don't have the luxury to do much. If you look at the talent we have.....like OBJ and Barkley ....it makes business sense if DG is not all in on Eli to cut him, rip the band aid...and if they thought Foles has 4-5 years in him that is an improvement over Eli, it makes business sense.
Except again we have little cap space and cutting Eli would make the Mara's cry and the fans.....and we are replacing 20M hit with another 20M hit with some big guaranteed money
He is good enough to win again and get his 20m+/guaranteed 3 year gig
Its interesting to think about veteran QBs that have joined the Giants following success elsewhere. I will not go back too far, but I will acknowledge that Tittle and Tarkenton were good after joining the giants. After that? Snead - ugg Morton - ouch Collins - Meh Warner - Placeholder
In sum, I do not think it works with this management team. They want something else, and the reach for Dave Brown is evidence for that.
The Giants line was average most of the year. The problem is the game kind of speed up on Eli. He can’t get the ball out fast enough
My argument is this. If your franchise QB needs a good to outstanding line to perform good football consistently then that QB is nothing better then a backup. Every QB in this league starting or backup can perform with outstanding line play.
True be told there were worse lines in football then the Giants with less talent and did better.
To the Foles question Brett Favre said it best. Nick Foles has a low ceiling and is limited on what you can do with him and your playbook. But what he does well he does very well. So Foles gets predictable. Over the 16 game season he will probably hit a wall. Pass
Cali, I am staying in my summer house I don't have Wi-Fi, the dictation feature is very difficult to handle and editing takes forever. I use saquon instead of his last name because the program won't spell it right
LAZ ,. I don't think the giant line was average or even close to it. Wheeler was rated lower than six backups. Romeo, Pulley and Greco didn't belong in the League. Usually a quarterback can rely on a safe harbor, but early on they came at Eli from every place. He couldn't Step Up, and he couldn't turn to the outside, the leaks we're more like a colander than a sieve. This is supported by one seemingly arcane statistic that I read that purported 2 list the time 2 contact and Eli was by far the worst. Your arguments all make sense, I just don't think you can judge Eli in avoid and irrespective of that line.
freide: As buts go I would put flowers in the Ron Dayne's class.

uther99: The Oline is just too bad to compete. If you max protect, how many WRs go out, 2? That's 2 WRs against 7 defenders, good luck.
