A nomination is NOT a vote for election. The Hall of Fame’s selection process includes multiple steps in which the nominees are scrutinized. The Hall facilitates the procedure of three successive reviews of increasing scrutiny with its 48 selectors. The first is a vote to reduce the long list of Modern-Era nominees (typically around 100) to 25 semifinalists, followed by a later vote to reduce to 15 finalists. At the annual “Selection Saturday" Meeting, the finalists are scrutinized even further by the Selectors, who after a thorough discussion of each nominee reduce the list from 15 to 10 and then 10 to 5. At that point, the five remaining nominees are voted on for membership on a yes or no basis. A minimum positive vote of 80 percent is necessary for election.
Running back Tiki Barber (1997-2006)
Running back Herschel Walker (1995)
Tight end Mark Bavaro (1985-1990)
Offensive tackle Lomas Brown (2000-2001)
Linebacker Carl Banks (1984-1992)
Punter Jeff Feagles (2003-2009)
Punter Sean Landeta (1985-1993, 2006)
Return specialist Brian Mitchell (2003)
Coach Dan Reeves (1993-1996)
According to an article I read, none are likely to be in the final 5. The current list consists of 120 players. I think it is an honor to make the initial list.
I still think Tiki’s got the numbers. 10,000 rushing and 5,000 receiving. And it’s not like he compiled those numbers by playing forever. He had an argument to being the best RB in the game for a 3 year span. I’d put him in.

Walker never measured up to the greatest trade in history. Not that anyone could. Still...
Bavaro, Landeta and Banks... but if it hasn't happened by now it'll never happen, barring one or all of them collaboratively curing cancer.
Always like Feagles. Guy had the physicality to play linebacker. And he was accurate, but never had the distance.
But here's a question...
Wikipedia: Landeta was named to the 1980s All-Decade Team as the first punter and the 1990s All-Decade Team as the second punter, as chosen by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee members.
So, how many decades of the hall of fame committee declaring you the greatest player at your position does it take for said comittee to let you in??? Was it because he only came in second in the 90s? 🙄

Aside from his Giants brief stint, Herschel deserves to be in the HOF. What an awesome representative to the sport he'd be. Also, loved Dan Reeves as a coach whether it be with us or Denver and Atlanta. Reeves made the most of what he had and his getting a sub par Atlanta to the big game is testimony of his genius. He's been to 4 Super Bowls and like Marv Leavey never having won one. Reeves is one of the finest men of the game.
Agree with nico, how come Carson's number is not retired? This is a no brainer.

rodney27: You're right about the fumbling problem, tl65taog. I just don't think it can be fixed. He had in preseason, has it at a record pace now, and had the same problem at Duke. If he hasn't fixed it in all that time...I just don't know if he can.
