Peart was not only one of the highest run blocking grades from pff, he had one ofthe highest passblocking grade in true pass sets (second best in all of college football...Taht is better than most of the top guys.>>>>>
Pro Football Focus on UConn OT Matt Peart: "Good offensive tackles are difficult to find. They’re also difficult investments, as many take time to develop from college to the NFL. Peart has the size and skill set to develop nicely at the next level, and he’s even more intriguing because he played well in college. He had the No. 4 pass-blocking grade on the all-important “true pass sets” last season, and he graded at an impressive 90.1 in the run game. While Peart played plenty of football at UConn, he only started playing the game in high school. He also has a long frame that has room to add even more strength."
Player School Win Rate Above Actual Win Rate Josh Jones Houston 2.9% 96.0% Matt Peart UConn 2.7% 95.3% Colton McKivitz West Virginia 2.3% 94.8% Keith Ismael San Diego State 2.0% 96.4% Jonah Jackson Ohio State 2.0% 96.4%
Notice Matt Peart is better in this category than Becton, Wirfs, Thomas, and Wills!

He has potential, but he a developmental OT right now. Most evaluations have him projected as a future swing tackle and possibly a starter. Either way, he isn't going to be a starter this season and may not be much of a contributor, depending on how quickly he can develop, which, unfortunately because of the quarantine, will be hindered this year.
He is not a bad selection for basically a 4th round pick. Unfortunately, this team needs more players who can contribute right away and losing the 68th really hurt.
Peart is the perfect guy to give to Columbo to refine and develop. A very nice pick for the Giants. He probably won't start in 2020; but the future should see him be a RT fixture for us. With the addition of Thomas, Fleming and Peart, and the development of Gates, I have to think that Columbo is going to be able to put the pieces together and elevate the line to a much higher level. Daniel Jones has to be a happy guy right now. The center pickings are still a little thin; but they might get value in the fifth round. I hope they go for BPA and value the rest of the way. There are still some good players out there who can really help. I don't want a reach for a marginal center at this point, that would be a waste of a pick.
This was a great value pick at a position of need. The OL is almost set. I can't imagine the Giants starting the 2020 season with Pulley at Center. That is one shoe that will need to drop before opening day.

rodney27: You're right about the fumbling problem, tl65taog. I just don't think it can be fixed. He had in preseason, has it at a record pace now, and had the same problem at Duke. If he hasn't fixed it in all that time...I just don't know if he can.
